Proponents are encouraged to visit the site prior to proposal submission and may do so unaccompanied by BC Housing. Proponents may attend the site on a date and time of their choosing, but must submit an email to Tara Schmidt, Development Manager (tschmidt@bchousing.org) advising of the date/ time of the visit to coordinate with others that may be working on site.
Brief Description of Work
In particular, the work includes, but is not necessarily limited to the following:
The proposed project involves development and operation of income assistance (shelter) rate units, and affordable rental units under the Regional Housing First Program (“RHFP”). RFHP is a partnership between the Capital Regional District (“CRD”), BC Housing and Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (“CMHC”). The purpose of this program is to create a spectrum of affordable housing options in the Capital Regional District. This project fulfils several public mandates and demonstrates the cooperation of the three public partners.
Under the RHFP, the rental rate proportions are:
- 20% at income assistance rental rates (34 units)
- 80% at affordable market rates (non-subsidized, based on CMHC average rents for that area) (136 units)
The development will consist of two (2) multi storey buildings containing 170-units total, with one amenity room. Designs have been advanced to the development permit stage, and include several studies (traffic, parking, and riparian area report), landscape plan, and input from civil, electrical and mechanical.
