ROADSIDE MOWING - SCOPE OF WORK
There are approximately 191 pass lane kilometres as follows:
• Ward 1 17.5 km=35 pass km
• Ward 2 78 km=156 pass km
2. Roadside mowing shall be performed in such a manner as to leave a uniform appearance when completed. Equipment shall be capable of cutting down roadside growth, including small brush or saplings for a minimum of a 5 feet swath in one pass measured from the back of shoulder (preferred 6 feet). The head must have the ability to cut roadside edges with a 120 degree angle (sloping in either direction).
3. All mowing shall be scheduled so that complete road sections between intersections are completed before moving to the next section. All intersections shall be cut back for site visibility.
4. All vegetation should be cut down to within 4 inches from ground level. Where possible the cut width shall be no less than 5 feet in width from the back of shoulder. It is recognized that the cutting blade would have to be raised over rocks, around stumps and signposts. No manual cutting will be required.
5. The contractor is responsible for all traffic control. The work must be completed in accordance with the applicable provisions of the Ontario Traffic Manual Book 7.
6. Suggested mowing equipment include the following:
• 4 Wheel Drive Tractor with a disc arm disc or sickle mower with a 6 foot swath

7. The Town reserves the right to inspect the equipment and refuse permission to operate should that equipment be unsafe or unable to perform. Such operation shall be done in an expedient manner. All equipment shall be properly and safely operated and maintained.
8. Should the Contractor experience a breakdown, become inoperative, or if said equipment is removed from the site for any reason, the Contractor will arrange for equipment replacement on the site to complete mowing operations. The Roads Lead Hand shall be notified immediately of any breakdowns.
9. The Manager or General Manager or his designate reserves the right to cancel this contract or return material at the Contractor's expense should the Contractor fail to supply equipment or perform satisfactorily within the terms of contract, and complete the works at the Contractors expense.
10. The Contractor shall take out and keep in force until the date of acceptance of the entire work by the Municipality, a comprehensive policy of public liability and property damage insurance policy and an automobile liability insurance policy acceptable to the Municipality, each policy providing insurance coverage in respect of any one accident to the limit of at least
$5,000,000.00, exclusive of interest and cost, against loss or damage resulting from bodily injury to, or death of, one or more persons and loss of, or damage to property and such policy shall name the Municipality as an additional insured there under and shall protect the Municipality against all claims for all damage or injury including death to any person or persons and for damage to any property of the Municipality or any other public or private property resulting from or arising out of any act or omission on the part of the Contractor or any of his servants or agents during the execution of the contract and the Contractor shall forward a certified copy of the policy or certificate thereof to the Municipality before the work is started.
11. Payment will be based on pass kilometres for roadside cutting. A list of all road sections showing pass kilometres per section is attached. Maps will be provided to the successful bidder outlining town boundaries and routes to follow. Each kilometre of road cut on both sides of the road will be paid as two pass kilometres.

12. The contractor must submit an itemized list of all roads completed showing pass kilometres completed.
13. The contractor may also be requested to do miscellaneous cutting for the Town outside of the parameters of this RFQ, at the hourly rate to be negotiated at the time of such a request. Such work may include vacant lots, median strips, and spot mowing.
14. A copy of a current WSIB Insurance clearance certificate shall be presented to the Manager or their designate prior to the commencement of work.
15. The Town wishes to enter into a one year term with the option to extend the contract for additional two - one year terms (total 3 years) or until one party wishes to end the agreement or wishes to renegotiate at the end of the term.
16. The contractor must be available to perform work between July 1st and August 1st. The contact person for notification to commence work outlined in this contract shall be submitted on the final page of this request for quotation.
