Description

The College is required to upgrade/modify the water main entry connection with specific type of Backflow Preventers (BFP) for Various Buildings (15 Buildings) across the campus in order to conform to the City of Ottawa’s (the City) Water By-law to protect drinking water quality.
The College has identified the requirement for two (2) backflow preventer devices to be installed in parallel for the domestic portable water and one (1) device for the sprinkler water supply to avoid unnecessary shutdown during maintenance or testing. Existing plumbing, electrical and other building systems may require re-configuration and modifications to allow for the installation of devices within the existing space as detailed within the design drawings (Appendix F).
