Description:
The AGO requires a programming/development agency for Drupal development, user testing, and project management services relating to customizations of the AGO Content Management System (CMS). Specifically, the AGO is looking for a Drupal developer to separate the AGO’s customizations from the Drupal core so that they can be packaged for release to the open source community.

The AGO requires a Drupal developer to:

Gather feedback, user requirements and conduct user testing to improve current customizations of the AGO Content Management System (CMS)
Make changes to AGO Drupal customizations based on feedback and conduct user testing of new customizations with stakeholders
Create documentation and training of final AGO Drupal customizations
Package training and customizations as modules for release

In this relationship, the successful applicant will be contracted directly to the AGO to undertake the following:

Project leadership
The AGO has partnered with eight (8) other cultural organizations to open source the features of the AGO Drupal based CMS. The incumbent will be responsible for:

Developing and implementing a user-testing plan to gather feedback on current features of the AGO.ca
Implementing an iterative approach for testing of new features and changes to current features
Project management, including proposed project schedule
Creating a communications plan to support project and partners

Create a new core for AGO.ca

Create development environment using Pantheon, including testing scripts and other features that support Continuous Integration and Development
Multilingual Drupal install configured to display single language only for AGO.ca
Multilingual Drupal install configured to display single language only for AGO Collection website
Implement workflow modules to support content editors
Implement Configuration Management Initiative (CMI) to support AGO developers
Replace AGO custom media manager module with core and migrate
Explore Drupal page builder functionality using templates

Create modules for current AGO.ca features

Courses
Events
Blog
Design elements created by AGO (includes: sliders, galleries, people and other)

Create modules for new AGO.ca features

Digital interpretation
Wayfinding
Integration with ticketing software-as-a-service
Other features to be discussed based on feedback from user testing

Package and distribute new AGO CMS and Modules

Create documentation and training of final AGO Drupal customizations
Package customizations as modules for release to:
- Drupal.org
- GitHub
- Website purpose built for promotion of the project, including content creation to support project

Conditions for Participation and Requirements to Request to Participate:
Candidates will be firms or individuals that have demonstrated experience and successes programming with Drupal 8. Candidates must be willing to plan and execute all work in consultation and conjunction with designated AGO management.

Museum and Cultural Institutional Experience

Procurement Method:
Request for Proposals. The AGO reserves the right to negotiate. The AGO may request a Best and Final Offer (BAFO).
