The Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) is the operator of Toronto Pearson International Airport, Canada’s largest airport, and North America’s second largest international passenger airport, as measured by the total number of annual international passengers. Toronto Pearson is a hub for the movement of people and goods across the country and the continent, and also around the globe. Within the GTAA, the Human Resources (HR) department and Fire and Emergency Services Training Institute (FESTI) are currently providing training to various aspects of the business (both internally and externally) using two separate LMS systems, one of which is at end-of-life (HR) and no longer suitable to support the learning and reporting needs of the organization. The two teams (HR and FESTI (AO)) have partnered together to select and implement a new Enterprise-Wide Learning Management System to support the requirements for GTAA employee training, FESTI student registration and training, and the potential for support of a broader Toronto Pearson Workforce learning platform. This new platform will be necessary to meet our safety training and reporting compliance requirements, as well as provide an opportunity to monetize courses and generate an additional revenue stream, for the GTAA as we move into the future.
GTAA LMS - Today
2+ Separate LMS systems providing functionality across GTAA
Inability to provide straightforward real-time reporting, manual workarounds required for compliance reporting.
Sub-optimal employee/customer experience.
- Data inaccuracies created by system flaws
- Data extraction complex and largely manual, giving propensity to human error
- Separate systems required to provide basic functionality to both groups
- Current HR solution has no monetization ability
GTAA LMS - Future
Single LMS system to meet the current requirements of both HR and FESTI as well as the future needs of the organization.
Flexible reporting which will adapt with the ever-changing Airport environment.
Optimize the GTAA LMS functionality
- Allow for further development of Learning as a revenue stream for the GTAA/FESTI
- Deliver a best in class LMS experience for employees and internal/external customers
- Establish and support a learning culture; supporting enterprise learning, technical training and external offerings.
- Support compliance requirements for regulatory training, GTAA mandatory training, Safety, and Transport Canada RAIC requirements.
