Description

SFU supports around 30,000 students and 6,500 faculty and staff across 3 campuses. Assuring and protecting the safety and security of the students, faculty, staff, contractors and visitors is a key university priority.

There is a need for a consolidated, comprehensive Safety Management System (SMS) software platform for the University. SFU, including the Safety and Risk Services (SRS) department, currently uses a combination of email, Excel spreadsheets, a standalone iOS inspection app, SharePoint, multiple incident reporting applications, and FileMaker to track and keep records of safety training, certifications, business continuity plans, inspections and incident reports. Across these platforms, there are over 23,000 records and over 100 training programs which information is not properly captured in a single location where data can be managed and extracted with ease.
