Established in 1965, SFU has become Canada's leading comprehensive university with vibrant campuses in Vancouver, Burnaby and Surrey.
The purpose of this Request for Proposals is to invite prospective proponents with a successful track record of providing Construction Management services to submit proposals to Simon Fraser University for the provision of Construction Management services for the SFU Burnaby Campus Lorne Davies Complex Renewal as further described in this RFP.
The facility is one of the largest and most significant buildings at the Burnaby campus at over 17,000 SM, providing space for a multitude of athletic and recreational activities along with general support and office functions. Perkins and Will Architects, the University’s Prime Consultant for LDC served to guide updates and modernizations to the complex.
This project focuses on the need to address programmatic shortfalls and interior planning opportunities while considering deferred maintenance, and renovations to existing spaces along with updating LDC building components. Integrated mechanical and electrical systems as well as new structural upgrades (seismic elements) are important components of this project.
The successful Proponent will serve in the capacity of Construction Manager at Risk on behalf of SFU to, briefly stated:
- provide preconstruction advice on constructability, construction cost and schedule, and
- tender the Project scope;
and when tendering is substantially completed, if so elected by the University, deliver the Project in the form of a Stipulated Price Construction Contract, with a substantial completion date targeting January 31, 2023.
