The purpose of this Request for Proposals is to invite prospective proponents with a successful track record of providing Construction Management services to submit proposals to Simon Fraser University for the provision of Construction Management services for the SFU Burnaby Campus Labatts Court Renewal, as further described in this RFP.
In 2016 SFU Burnaby initiated a project to comprehensively replace the campus rooftop waterproof assemblies that served outdoor public plaza areas above occupied classrooms and other functional space below. Phases 1 & 2 of plaza renewal spanned the length of the campus from the Academic Quadrangle on the east to the Starbuck’s plaza to the west of the Transportation Centre building. The next and 3rd phase of plaza renewal is Labatts Court.
Located west of Starbucks plaza as a courtyard to the West Mall Centre, the Labatt’s Court Renewal project will also require removal of the existing plaza paving and replacement of the subsurface waterproofing assembly. New granite paving assemblies will match those of the previous two phases, along with enhancements of the landscaping, exterior furnishings, lighting. Additional exterior canopies are also being added for improved weather protection in outdoor plaza areas as well.
The successful Proponent will serve in the capacity of Construction Manager at Risk on behalf of SFU to, briefly stated:
- provide preconstruction advice on constructability, market-based construction cost estimates and construction schedule
- complete destructive testing during pre-construction services, and
- tender the Project scope;
and when tendering is substantially completed, if so elected by the University, deliver the Project in the form of a Stipulated Price Construction Contract.
The Project is expected to be substantailly completed in August 2023.See RFP Package for project details.
