The purpose of this Request for Proposals is to invite prospective proponents with a successful track record of providing Construction Management services to submit proposals to Simon Fraser University for the provision of Construction Management services for the SFU Burnaby Campus Gibson Art Museum, as further described in this RFP.
SFU has undertaken an exciting new venture, the creation of a new main hub for its Burnaby campus: The East Campus Gateway. The creation of this opportunity will physically inscribe a threshold between the Academic Campus and the residential community. As part of this project and with the generous support of a lead donation from the Gibson family, SFU’s new Art Museum will play a vital role in framing and providing an active edge to this area.
In March 2018, SFU engaged Lord Cultural Resources to work alongside them in the creation of a high-level functional program for a new Gibson Art Museum. Subsequently, in April 2021, Hariri Pontarini Architects (HPA) was engaged as a Prime Consultant.
The successful Proponent of this RFP will serve in the capacity of Construction Manager at Risk on behalf of SFU to, briefly stated:
- provide preconstruction advice on constructability, construction cost and schedule
- complete destructive testing during pre-construction services, and
- tender the Project scope;
and when tendering is substantially completed, if so elected by the University, deliver the Project in the form of a Stipulated Price Construction Contract.
The Project is expected to be completed in Fiscal Year 2023/24.See RFP Package for project details.
