Description

The purpose of this Request for Proposals is to invite prospective proponents with a successful track record of providing Construction Management services to submit proposals to Simon Fraser University for the provision of Construction Management services for the SFU Burnaby Campus First Peoples Gathering House, as further described in this RFP.

The proposed SFU First Peoples Gathering House (FPGH) on the SFU Burnaby Campus will be a gathering place where First Peoples students, staff and faculty can come together to practice, learn and share in their cultural traditions.

The overall intent is that this space will serve as a ‘major hub’ for educational, cultural and social resources for the current 600 person strong SFU Aboriginal community. The FPGH will be grounded in an indigenous worldview, ‘ways of knowing’ and perspective, thus ensuring it reflects the hopes and aspirations of the indigenous students, staff and faculty of SFU and their visitors. Urban Arts Architecture has been engaged as the Prime Consultant on the project to continue with the development of a comprehensive building programme for a new 1,350 m2 facility. The construction is expected to be completed in Fiscal Year 2023/24.
