Description

Established in 1965, SFU has become Canada's leading comprehensive university with vibrant campuses in Vancouver, Burnaby and Surrey. The McTaggart Cowan Hall (MCH) Residence renewal project was initiated in 2018 and addresses deferred maintenance requirements as well as mechanical requirements to better address the ventilation and sustainability needs of the residents and SFU.

The MCH Residence renewal project consists of two phases: The Phase 1 Roof Replacement Project and the Phase 2 Vertical Envelope Project. The Phase 1 project was completed in 2021.The scope of work defined in this RFP at Phase 2 is comprised of: replacement of the vertical building envelope on all sides of the building; new HRV system installation on roof; new garbage area enclosure; as well as other interior architectural works integrated in the envelope system.

The Project is expected to be completed by summer 2024.

SFU will host a non-mandatory site visit at the time and date as stipulated in RFP Section 4.6.

Proponents are to attend the site vist to obtain information about the procurement process and to provide an opportunity to ask questions. SFU’s representatives will also be present to answer questions on the Project deliverables. Proponents are advised to send their critical key personnel that will be responsible for running/managing this project/service to this session.
Please note oral responses to any enquiry at the site visit will NOT be deemed to amend, add to or alter this RFP in any way unless issued in the form of a formal written addendum later by SFU.

Refer to RFP Section 4.4 Enquiries for further details of how to submit your quesitons after the Site Walk.

The following stipulations apply:
1. The Proponent’s team to sign Attendance Sheet on site before the site visit; and
2. the Proponent’s team is to abide by all SFU parking regulations and SFU existing COVID 19 Safety Measures; and
3. Please RSVP by emailing the Main Contact identified in Section 1.2. Your email subject line should state: RSVP Site Visit – P305714 MCH Vertical Envelope Project CM RFP – Firm Name. Please include your company name, the names and titles of all individuals attending the tour, and a contact email address and phone number.
The walkthrough will access to an existing construction site and Full PPE (hard hat, steel toe and safety vest) and safety orientation are required.
