Description

SFU has a requirement for a high-pressure freezer system for cryo preparation of specimens for
transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and focused ion beam-scanning electron microscopy
(FIB-SEM). This equipment will be a used as the major unit in a workflow for cyro-electron
microscopy of biological (cells/tissues) and soft matter samples, which is intended to ease user
labour.
It is SFU’s intention to award a contract for Leica Microsystems Canada Inc.
An ACAN is a public notice indicating to the supplier community that SFU intends to award a
contract for goods, services, or construction to a pre-identified supplier, thereby allowing other
suppliers to signal their interest in bidding, by submitting a statement of capabilities. If no
supplier submits a Statement of Capabilities that meets the requirements set out in the ACAN,
on or before the submission deadline stated in the ACAN, SFU may then proceed with the award
to the pre-identified supplier. If other potential suppliers submit Statements of Capabilities
during the posting period, and meet the requirements set out in this ACAN, SFU may proceed to
a Request for Proposal process.
