Are you looking for a quick and easy way to find IT and cybersecurity tenders? With today’s advancing technology, so many agencies are doing business online. But as more confidential information is being housed online, there is an increased risk of cyber-attack attempts such as phishing, data breaches, and fraud. According to research done by comparitech.com, in 2021 85.7% of Canadian companies experienced at least one cyber-attack, which can cost some companies millions of dollars to fix. Government agencies are also just as much of a target for hackers as many of their databases are online. As a result, many agencies are ramping up their cybersecurity funding to prevent further attacks from occurring. If you do business in the IT and cybersecurity fields, you can expect to see a lot of new tenders being issued over the next several years.

Cybersecurity Spending to Look Out For

In Canada’s 2018 budget, they announced an action plan to keep Canadians safe from cyber threats by implementing the National Cybersecurity Strategy. Since 2018, nearly $4.8 billion has already been invested into cybersecurity. As we are nearing the end of 2022, a new budget for 2022-2023 has been proposed. According to Canada.ca, it will add $875.2 million over five years to the planned cybersecurity spending by the government, along with $238.2 million in ongoing spending for additional cyber threat measures. This money will go towards a variety of different initiatives such as defense against cyber-attacks, prevention and response plans to cyber-attacks on critical infrastructure, protection for small departments, agencies and crown corporations, and to improve online systems overall. This is good news for your business as many government agencies will be using some of this funding to issue and award more contracts to meet these cybersecurity goals.
