The University of Waterloo recently completed a Board of Governors and Senate Governance Review that included an assessment of Senate and Board processes, policies, structures, engagement, roles and responsibilities and overall effectiveness. Many recommendations emerged from these reviews providing a roadmap for the modernization of Board and Senate governance practices. Implementation of the recommendations requires changes in practices and procedures in both the Secretariat that supports governance and the administrative offices that prepare materials and engage with governance bodies.
The University of Waterloo is seeking assistance with best practice governance and administrative solutions as it moves to the implementation phase of the recommendations of these reviews. Some examples of the assistance and key deliverables required include improvements to meetings, agendas and materials, committee and council structures, orientation materials, nomination processes, evaluation processes, engagement across bodies, and strategic workplans. Part of this work will include supporting senior administrative leadership and their staff to appropriately align operational and governance related activities.
