#23-011 CH - Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP)

Through an external provider, the University of Waterloo offers an Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) to eligible employees and their dependents.  The purpose of the EFAP is to provide health and wellness services via short-term, confidential counselling that includes face-to-face, telephone, or online sessions.  The contract with our current provider, Homewood Health, was implemented in September 2016 and expires on August 31, 2023.  EFAP service provider selection is the responsibility of the Pension & Benefits Committee of the Board of Governors.  The EFAP RFP evaluation team will make a recommendation to the P&B Committee; if P&B approves the recommendation, a new contract would be established, starting September 1, 2023, and ending August 31, 2028, with the option to renew for an additional two (2) years, on mutual agreement between the parties.
