Description

1. - Statement of Requirements

1.2.1. The Unversity of Ottawa is pleased to invite qualified proponents to submit a proposal for a state-of-the-art high frequency ultrasound imaging device to support diverse research and training programs using small model organisms. The high frequency ultrasound equipment will significantly increase research output by providing unprecedented details of soft tissue and organ function in living animals as small as a zebrafish, a tiny frog or a mouse.

General Description:

Suppliers to provide turn-key high frequency ultrasound equipment. The system should come ready to go, with software installed. The software should not require a recurring license fee—i.e., a system that can becomes unusable due to software licenses expiring is not acceptable.

High frequency ultrasound equipment must be able to monitor all aspects of heart function in detail in zebrafish. The equipment must be capable of assessments of gonadal and adrenal function in living animals such as zebrafish, small frogs and mice.

The proposed ultrasound imaging equipment must be capable of analysis of musculoskeletal elements in the model species.

This equipment must capture high quality images of soft tissues for non-lethal quantitative measurements under numerous experimental conditions. The requested ultra-high frequency ultrasound-based platform must enable the researcher to obtain in vivo anatomical, functional, physiological data simultaneously, in real-time, to a very high resolution for the small soft-tissues listed above.

The equipment should be robust, well-constructed and on wheels, designed to be moved from room to room easily and safely.

Suppliers are asked to provide an itemized proposal with costs.

Specifications listed in Appendix A – Technical Specifications Compliance Form of this RFP are the mandatory minimum requirements for the high frequency ultrasound for experimental physiology in small vertebrates.
