McMaster University invites qualified suppliers to submit proposals for a Thermogravimetric Analysis instrument coupled to a Mass Spectrometer for evolved gas analysis, in accordance with the terms of this Proposal Call.
Our projects involve the preparation of numerous polymeric, nanostructured, and small molecule substances requiring thermogravimetric analysis, and will require a highly sensitive thermogravimetric analysis instrument capable of heating to 1100 degrees Celsius, and equipped with a mass spectrometer for evolved gas analysis. This instrument will be equipped with an autosampler, a DSC sensor for simultaneous differential scanning calorimetry, and a sample piercing device to allow analysis of air-sensitive samples. This equipment will help to identify decomposition patterns in a variety of molecular species, and will allow full thermal characterization of disparate polymeric materials.
A Proposal must include, or conform with, the following Mandatory Requirements:
- The instrument must be capable of heating samples to a minimum of 1100 degrees C under an atmosphere that can be switched between at least 2 different gases.
- The instrument must be equipped with an autosampler.
- The instrument must be interfaced with a mass spectrometer capable of measuring molecular weights up to at least 300 amu.
- The instrument must be capable of handling air-sensitive samples by using a sample pan piercing mechanism.
- 5.The equipment must be approved by CSA, ULC or equivalent with visible markings.
- The bidder must provide proof that the manufacturer of the system is certified ISO 9001.
- The equipment must be supplied with an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) that provides a reliable and controlled shutdown of the equipment in the event of a power loss.
