Manitoba Sustainable Development requires a qualified laboratory to provide Microbiological Services for the Private Water System Subsidy Program.
Water samples are taken by the public and come from various locations throughout the province. Accuracy and rapid turnaround of analytical results are fundamental to Office of Drinking Water’s ability to efficiently and effectively respond to public health issues related to Private Water Systems. It is important that Monthly (or Weekly as required) Microbiological Results Reports be accurate, consistent, and provided in a format compatible with existing databases and regulatory requirements.
In addition, Office of Drinking Water requires timely Adverse Results Notification. If the Laboratory is unable to contact the Private Water System owner within 48-hours, they will have to contact the Private Well, Education and Outreach Coordinator. If after hours, the Drinking Water Officer on–call should be contacted. This is stipulated in the Office of Drinking Water Adverse Results Notification Protocol.
