Regional Express Rail Program Overview
Metrolinx’s Regional Express Rail (RER) Program, announced in 2014 by the Province of Ontario, will transform the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area over the next decade. The RER program will introduce additional rail service daily (including weekends) in both directions, on five of the seven GO rail corridors.
- The infrastructure required to support the RER program includes:
- Adding tracks and associated signals;
- Electrification of much of the rail network;
- Installing new train control systems to enable higher frequency services;
- Modification to existing GO Stations, and the construction of new GO Stations; and
- Acquiring electric locomotives and new vehicles.

New Toronto Stations (The Project) Overview
This project consists of six rail stations. Five of these stations are being delivered as part of City of Toronto SmartTrack program and is being delivered on behalf of the City of Toronto. The remaining station (Bloor-Davenport GO Station on the Barrie GO line) is being delivered as part of Metrolinx RER program. The six stations are as follows, however these are subject to change:
