17-032 - Bid Call - Macdonald Block Complex - Stone Removal and Replacement

This Invitation to Bid is issued by Ontario Infrastructure and Lands Corporation (“Infrastructure Ontario” or “IO”) to solicit and receive Bids from qualified General Contractors.
 
The site:
The Macdonald Block Complex consists of four stone clad towers of varying heights that stand on a two story podium at the corner of Bay Street and Wellesley Street in Toronto. The complex is approximately 45 years old, is owned by the Ontario Government and is a Provincial Heritage Property of Provincial Significance.
 
The work:
Provide all necessary access and equipment to remove and reinstate exterior wall stones in multiple locations in the complex. It is expected that the stones removed at each location will be approximately 1.3 m x 1.4 m x 0.15 m with an approximate stone mass of 680 kg (1500 lb). The stones must be stored for up to three days in a safe location, during which time the contractor is to core samples from the backside of the stone. Photographs of each stage are also required. The contractor must provide safe access to the Consultant to view the stones and take data measurements. This work is referred to as the “Project”.
