Deltera Inc. and their development partner Toronto Community Housing Corporation
(TCHC) are seeking a soils, geotechnical and hydrological engineering consultant to
assist in seeking rezoning approvals for a bold new vision for Phases 4 & 5 of the Regent
Park revitalization in Toronto, Canada.
The Soils, Geotechnical, and Hydrological Engineering consultant will be responsible for
the following key components:
3.2.1 Soil Engineering Services:
a) Review applicable polices, plans, regulations, and standards and identify
opportunities to pursue zoning by-law amendments, and also identify the
risk associated with these changes based on professional expertise;
b) Collaborate with the design team in the preparation of the master plan;
c) Prepare the following studies, in accordance with City
requirements/Regulated Standards (refer to Appendix F):
Phase I Environmental Site Assessment;
• Phase I ESA report is expected to be a desktop analysis, no
drilling is anticipated.
Phase II Environmental Site Assessment;
Hydrological Study/Report; and,
Geotechnical Study/Report.
d) Phase II ESA, Hydrological and Geotechnical reports are anticipated to
require on site field work:
This Respondent must drill boreholes. (Respondent to determine
adequate number of boreholes, which will be approved by the
Owner, and coordinated with the City for approval). Samples will be
logged in the field and returned to this Respondent’s laboratory for
detailed examination by the Project Engineer and for laboratory
testing.
Prior to drilling operations, all underground utilities must be cleared
at the borehole locations by representatives of the public utilities
company working with this Respondent.
This Respondent must report on the site and subsurface conditions.
This Respondent must report on ground water conditions.
The fee proposal should reflect the price per borehole and the
proposed written submission should reflect the number of boreholes
the Respondent anticipates based on their years of experience and
the existing survey, as provided in Appendix G.
The description of soils and geotechnical engineering services above is to be
used as a minimum guide and does not alleviate the respondent of the
responsibility to also carry out other work according to conventional good and
current industry practices. Work items not included in this scope but
anticipated by the respondent should be clearly identified and listed, with
fee(s), as an attachment to the respondent’s submission response.
