2017-09 - Engineering Services for Site Selection and Detail Design for City Snow Disposal

The City of North Bay’s current snow disposal area off Seymour Street at times has reached capacity and a new snow disposal area will be required in the near future.
Currently snow is removed from the downtown area boulevards and disposed at the Seymour location. Snow removal operations are generally carried out during the day and at night (weather permitting). Truck hauling volumes varies however there is an estimated 3,500 truckloads for an average year and 4,500 for a bad year.      
Engineering services are required to evaluate and confirm site selection on existing City property within City limits. The location must meet or exceed the Guidelines on Snow Disposal and De-icing Operations (latest revision) in Ontario set out by the Government of Ontario. Once the site for the new snow dump is selected, the consultant will complete the detail design drawings, contract specifications and obtain agency approvals.
